The Brown Coffee Co., Farm-Direct from Guatemala, Whole Bean Coffee, Roasted Fresh, 12oz (340g) Bag Review by Barbara E. Blanco

I LOVE THIS COFFEE!!! My coffee habits have been altered for the better since leaving the Starbucks peer pressure scene of drinking "old" coffee.

An AMAZING flavor of love from Huehuetenango, Guatemala in this brew. These growers pour their heart and souls into their coffees for I have met the grower personally and want to keep buying from someone who cares to grow only the BEST. The combination of great roasting from Brown's makes this a winner for me and maybe for you too.

I've been an avid drinker of this roast flavor for a full five years but you know what? Each year I find I am wonderfully surprised with their continual quality bean combined with a quality roaster like Brown Coffee Company...they have not disappointed or failed to make me try more!

Highly recommend any flavor from Brown Coffee Co. but THIS is my favorite by far!!

I am not an expert on the different types of coffee out there, but I thought I would give it a go based upon a friend's recommendation. Both my husband and I enjoyed it.

I read about this coffee on Instapundit (Glenn Reynolds) this morning. I like reading Glenn Reynolds and I almost always follow his Amazon links. Sometimes I buy based solely on his recommendation. I may have to reconsider based on what's going on with this coffee. First - notice that they are peddling 12oz of beans at a price that would be high for 16oz. Well, the buyers will sort that one out. Caveat emptor.

What is really egregious is how the owners of The Brown Coffee Co are gaming this on Amazon. In his endorsing post, Glenn Reynolds praises owner Aaron Blanco. Glenn's a nice guy. That a good endorsement. Glenn says Aaron Blanco's coffee was just now available on Amazon. So, on Glenn's endorsement, I go to Amazon. Lo and behold there are already several 5-star reviews of the three available coffees. One stands out: Barbara E. Blanco. Hmmm. Same last name. A quick check of whitepages.com reveals a familial connection between Aaron J. Blanco of The Brown Coffee Co and Barbara E. Blanco. I'm guessing that Barbara is Aaron's mom. Her other Amazon reviews are of the other Brown coffees.

Wait! There's more to this silliness. A neophyte named Ryan and a mysterious L2 also post their first reviews ever on Amazon simultaneous with Grandma's glowing reviews. Five star reviews for - drum roll - The Brown Coffee Co's offerings. Interesting how Ryan and L2 have NEVER reviewed on Amazon before and are now touting the wonders of The Brown Coffee Co beans. All of these 5-star reviews occur on Nov 21. What a coincidence! Why should anyone think that Aaron Blanco and family are trying to create an artificial positive buzz for their overpriced coffee?

Look folks. Family is great! Your coffee may be too even though you've deceptively overpriced it in a 12oz quantity. Frankly, I'll never know since I won't buy it. You've played Glenn Reynolds for a fool, and you've done a poor job covering your tracks. No crime here. But you can't possibly think the family connection is of no consequence in posting favorable reviews on Amazon. You may think it's perfectly legit to game the 5-star reviews on Amazon. If you think that, then you are also perfectly capable of stuffing coffee sacks with low quality beans - and giving it faux "microlot" and "estate" and "reserva" packaging to fool Amazon buyers even further. Perhaps you think everyone does it. Tell you what, delete these familial 5-star reviews and I'll delete my 1-star review. You get a mulligan. I'm still not gonna buy your overpriced coffee.

Oh, and tell Glenn Reynolds you played him. 'Cause you did.

The Brown Coffee Co., Farm-Direct from Guatemala, Whole Bean Coffee, Roasted Fresh, 12oz (340g) Bag::Description

Guatemala produces some of the world's most sought-after coffees, known for their complexity and natural sweetness. This coffee is grown in the highlands of Huehuetenango in northwest Guatemala, and is purchased directly from the farm owners and roasted fresh in small batches for all orders.

The farm is called Finca Vista Hermosa ("Farm with the Beautiful View") and has ten distinct "microlots" that produce unique flavor characteristics across the farm. Edlina Microlot is nestled at heights of up to 6200 feet and is grown under the shade of Inga and Cypress trees and fed by natural springs. Finca Vista Hermosa produces only the highest grade Arabica coffee. The farm is considered passive organic and the owners take meticulous care to harvest only perfectly ripe coffee for export. The Brown Coffee Company has been developing personal relationships with Finca Vista Hermosa for five years to ensure the coffee is sustainably and responsibly grown.

In the cup this coffee is balanced with a pleasant acidity and a classic "minerality" for which coffees from Finca Vista Hermosa are renowned. As it cools it exhibits tones of salted caramel and molasses.

Taste the difference fresh roasted quality coffee can make. Taste Brown Coffee Company.
